ERRANT HART
Mixed Media Fiber Art by Anna Hart Turner

"Caught Up" is an ongoing series that combines hand embroidery with produce nets and other discarded packaging, first developed through the Undiscovered Countries Blast Off Development Lab in 2019. The title reflects both my fascination with net materials and the ease with which we become ensnared in cycles of consumerism and waste. As a maker, I wrestle with the tension between my drive to create and my responsibility to limit what I consume and release into the world. These works give physical form to the psychic weight of trash. Some compositions echo patterns found in nature, while others draw from traditional handcraft techniques. Through stitching, I aim to re-contextualize disposable packaging—from refuse to something of value—inviting viewers to consider its latent potential, and by extension, our own capacity to either harm or heal our environment.
